Locks Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of pastel works on paper by Jennifer Bartlett. The painter, long known for her rigorous studio practice, generally followed her daily routine wherever she was. While traveling on vacation to Colorado, the Caribbean or summers spent in Amagansett, Bartlett would have her materials sent ahead so that she could plunge into the landscape depictions upon her arrival. This methodic practice, especially with classical drawing materials—dates back to her formative time in France in the winter of 1978-79, when she completed the nearly 200 works on paper suite, In the Garden.
