Jane Irish (Locks Gallery, by appointment Feb. 23-March 27). Irish’s paradoxically beautiful new “Tapestry Paintings” address atrocities committed by American soldiers during the Vietnam War. They’re inspired by letters given to her by Scott Moore, an organizer of the 1971 Winter Soldier Investigation event, where soldiers testified about war crimes they had seen. With paint and fabric, Irish creates narratives that borrow images of pain and suffering from masterpieces like Caravaggio’s The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. (215-629-1000, locksgallery.com)
